Home Brew:

Is there any better feeling then taking raw material and creating a product you can enjoy and share with others. Brewing your own beer can have so many benefits such as, cost, taste, and enjoyment. I will not lie to you, it is not easy and can have an expensive initial start cost (actual tools and cookware), but it does not have to be difficult either. The purpose of this section is share ideas, experiences, and know-how for home brewing. On occasion we will post some recipes we come across and some of the things we run into in our experiences and hope you do the same.

Cocktails:

Mike's Firefly

This is a combination of two satisfying drinks combined to put a new twist on an old recipe. Well the recipe began with Mr. Arnold Palmer and his genius concoction of lemonade and sweet tea. This, of course, was followed by its new twist to build and better lemonade and sweet tea by adding liquor (usually vodka) aptly named a John Daly. But how do you improve a drink, that has already been improved by alcohol? Add more alcohol! A Mike's Firefly combines Mike's Hard Lemonade with Firefly Sweet Tea. A tea/lemonade mixed drink with no mixers just alcohol.

Materials- Mike's Hard Lemonade (Any Flavor), Firefly Sweet Tea (can be substituted by Burnette's Sweet Tea)

How to: Start off by only add 1-2 shots of the sweet tea vodka to your Mike's drink and then experiment until you find your perfect balance.

Brass Monkey/ Ghetto Sunrise a.k.a. poor man’s mimosa

We are going to have a classic for this week. I am sure by now that every person who has enjoyed a post high school social has at the very least heard about brass monkeys. If you are a fan of hip hop and old school rap brass monkey was a popular song by the Beastie Boys and taught a generation how to throw down.

“Put your left leg down - your right leg up, Tilt your head back - let's finish the cup,…, Cause I drink it anytime - and anyplace, When it's time to get ill - I pour it on my face, Monkey tastes Def when you pour it on ice, Come on y'all it's time to get nice” excerpt from “Brass Monkey” by Beastie Boys

Materials- 40oz beverage, Orange Juice (Brass Monkey), Sunny D (Ghetto Sunrise)

How-To: drink the 40oz down until the beer is level with the label of the bottle, then fill the bottle back up to the top with orange juice (Brass Monkey), Sunny D (Ghetto Sunrise).
